Write, print and take your lyric sheets with you
TextA is a Mac-only app for writing, tidying and printing
“lyric sheets” — lyrics and chords kept together in one text file.
The sheets you make can be handed to SongV
and read on an iPhone or iPad while you play.
Writing and tidying
- Edit and save the title, artist and lyrics; “Clear” starts a new song
- An edit menu with replace, line spacing, character pitch and join-into-one-line
- Change the lyric font size (this applies to printing too)
- Indent the selected lines one character at a time
- Transpose the chords a semitone at a time (undo with Command+Z)
Moving chords between songs
- Chord catch — pull just the chord lines out of the selected range
- Chord merge — lay those chords onto a different set of lyrics
- Chord delete — strip the chord lines from a range, keeping the lyrics
- Undo the last chord operation to get the original lyrics back
Finding a sheet
- A lyric sheet list window, with a folder of your choosing for the files
- Search song titles, or search inside the lyrics (a running search can be cancelled)
- Add songs to the quick list to reach them from the side panel
Printing and exporting
- Preview as a print image (PDF), then print or save as a PDF
- Choose whether the title, memo and artist are printed at the top of the page
- In two-column layout, move paragraphs to the right column one at a time
- SongV export — write the song out as a SongV file, saved or shared
- Send lyrics by email, either pasted into the body or attached as a SongV file
- Search YouTube and Gakki-me for the current title and artist
The “?” at the right end of the toolbar lists the name and description of every button currently on screen.
Please note: TextA is Mac only and cannot be used on iPhone or iPad.
The app’s interface is in Japanese only.
Joining the beta requires the TestFlight app for Mac.
